Praying Hand in Hand
My friend Deborah of The Women of the Passion inspired me with a really beautiful way to intercede for people this past summer. After our coffee time together, she opened up her journal to a blank page and asked me to trace my hand. After looking at her rather quizzically, I did it. She then asked me to sign it and put my email address so we could stay in touch.
Here’s an example of how she later used this to pray for me:
“As I place my hand on your hand print, I breath slowly in and out. I thank the Father. I thank God for your Mom and Dad and your place in this world. I thank him for your brothers and sisters, where you grew up and moving your beautiful wife into your life, then I thank him for your children and your seed of faith that will continue. As I pray I see our coffee break and the love of Christ we share. I finish my prayer for you watching you drive away in my mind and simply ask he put people in your path that long to hear his story. I never close my prayer I simply remove my hand.”
