Confessing: Stating the reality about who you are
COFFEE CONFESSION: Express out loud a statement about the state of your present reality – I don’t feel like doing this….take a swig of coffee….express another statement – I’m still tired …another sip of coffee…another one – I’m going to do it anyway….coffee….I think I have some untapped potential…coffee…I like helping people…coffee….continue until you’ve finished your cup.
YOUR WRITTEN CONFESSION: Write out a prayer of confession less based on your sins but more based on the reality of who you are…at this moment – such as this journal entry: God, I confess to you that I’m a human being, I’m overly influenced by fear, hunger, sleep, pain, etc… I’m sometimes fickle, indecisive, forgetful, arrogant, etc… I can be compassionate and selfish in the same day, spiritual and materialistic in the same hour. The bottom line is: I need you…
I AM…: Put pen to paper and write, “I am…” then put down one or two words that describe how you feel about yourself at that moment. Below it write again, “I am…” and another couple of words. Keep going till you fill the page. Feel free to venture from the negative to the positive, from the banal to the sublime. Like clicks of a camera capturing your different expressions of the moment.
